IEC 60310:2004 is intended for traction transformers installed on rolling stock and for various types of inductors that are inserted into the power and auxiliary circuits of electric vehicles.
NOTE 1: The term “inductor” in this standard is synonymous with the term “reactor” as referenced in IEC 60050(421), IEC 60050(811), and IEC 60289.
The inductors referred to in the first paragraph can include:
– filter inductors;
– smoothing inductors;
– commutation inductors;
– protection inductors within static power converters;
– inductive shunts for traction motors;
– inductors used for transitioning between tap changer notches;
– braking circuit inductors;
– inductors for interference suppression.
NOTE 2: The requirements of IEC 60076 apply to traction transformers unless they are in conflict with this standard or with specialized IEC publications dedicated to traction applications.
NOTE 3: For transformers and inductors designed for static power converters, additional reference should be made to IEC 61287.
Upon mutual agreement between the user and the manufacturer, this standard may also be applied to three-phase AC line-powered traction transformers and transformers inserted in the single-phase or polyphase auxiliary circuits of vehicles, excluding instrument transformers and transformers with a rated output of less than 1 kVA single-phase or 5 kVA polyphase.
This standard does not encompass accessories such as tap changers, resistors, heat exchangers, fans, etc., which are intended for installation on transformers or inductors and should be tested separately in accordance with relevant regulations.
If tap changers are an integral component of the transformers, they cannot be detached during the testing process.
For service conditions, consult IEC 60077-1, Clause 7.
