1.1 Scope. This standard specifies the requirements for cassification of weld- through paint primers only. The paint primers are classified based on the maximum coating thickness for successful welding and the welding procedure used during the classification test. This standard provides a system for paint manufacturers to classify the weldability features of weld-through paint primers.

The code shall apply to the welding of: 1. Reinforcing steel to reinforcing steel, and 2. Reinforcing steel to carbon or low-alloy structural steel. When the code is stipulated in contract documents,conformance with all provisions shall be required, except for those provisions that the Engineer or contract docu-ments specifically modifies or exempts.

This code contains the requirements for are welding of structural shect/strip steels, including cold formed members,hereafter collectively referred to as“”sheet steel,” which are equal to or less than 3/16 in [5 mm] in nominal thickness. In addition, welding hollow structural section (HSS) also called tubular members with wall thickness less than 1/8 in [3 mm]

This specification covers the requirements for Gas Tungsten Arc Welding and Plasma Arc Welding of stainless steels and nickel alloy tube and pipe 1/4 in [6 mm] diameter and larger in the fabrication and construction of new sanitary (hygienic) processing systems. This specification includes the welding of tube and pipe for the transportation of sanitary
