1.1 ISO ASTM 52931:2023 offers guidance and establishes requirements for conducting risk assessments and implementing preventive and protective measures associated with the use of metallic powder in additive manufacturing processes.
1.2 The scope of this document encompasses all subprocesses involved in the manufacturing process, including the handling of waste materials.
1.3 It is not the intent of this document to specify design requirements for machinery and equipment utilized in additive manufacturing.
1.4 The standard does not claim to cover all safety concerns that may arise from its application. It is the user’s responsibility to establish suitable safety, health, and environmental procedures and to ascertain the applicability of any regulatory restrictions before employing this standard.
