This section of IEC 60317 details the specifications for solderable, enamel-coated round copper winding wire, which falls under Class 1 80 and features a dual-coating system. The base coating is composed of polyester-imide resin, which can be altered as long as it retains the chemical composition of the original resin and satisfies all the stipulated wire requirements. The additional coating is a bonding layer made from a thermoplastic resin.
NOTE: A modified resin refers to a resin that has experienced a chemical transformation or incorporates one or more additives to improve specific performance or application attributes.
The scope of nominal conductor diameters addressed by this section includes:
- Grade 1B: from 0.020 mm up to and including 1,600 mm;
- Grade 2B: from 0.020 mm up to and including 1,600 mm.
The specified nominal conductor diameters are detailed in Clause 4 of IEC 60317-0-1:2013.
