This section of IEC 62257 aims to specify the general requirements for the design and implementation of interface equipment within a user’s installation that connects to a microgrid or the power generation component of a standalone system.
As shown in Figure 1, this interface is an integral part of the user’s installation. This part of IEC 62257-9 applies specifically to simplified user interfaces (distribution boards) in electrical installations with a maximum power capacity of 500 VA in Decentralized Rural Electrification Systems (DRES).
For installations exceeding 500 VA in decentralized electrification systems, IEC 62257-5 becomes applicable.
This part of IEC 62257-9 applies to interface equipment within the user’s installation that connects to:
• A 230 V AC or 120 V AC microgrid,
• The power generation component – either AC or DC – of a standalone installation.
This equipment is designed to provide protection, isolation, and distribution functions.
