The aim of this section of IEC 62257 is to outline the general requirements for the design and implementation of a user’s electrical installation.
This part of IEC 62257-9 is relevant to single-phase electrical installations with a maximum power capacity of 500 VA within Decentralized Rural Electrification Systems (DRES).
Note: For installations that exceed 500 VA in decentralized electrification systems, IEC 62257-5 is applicable.
This section applies to installations powered by a microgrid (120 V AC or 230 V AC) as well as those that include their own single-unit micropower plant (120 V AC, 230 V AC, 12 V DC, or 24 V DC).
It is important to note that this part of IEC 62257-9 does not cover electric power production and distribution installations related to microplants and microgrids, nor does it apply to user electrical equipment. Instead, it provides guidelines for the design and construction of consumer electrical installations to ensure the safety of individuals and property, as well as to guarantee satisfactory operation in line with the intended purpose of the installations.
This section is applicable to both new installations and modifications of existing ones.
