ISO 12185:2024 outlines a method for determining the density of crude petroleum and related products within the range of 600 kg/m³ to 1100 kg/m³, which can be handled as single-phase liquids at the test temperature and pressure.
This method is applicable to liquids with any vapour pressure, provided that suitable precautions are taken to ensure they remain in single phase throughout the process. The loss of light components during sample handling and density determination can lead to changes in density.
This method is not intended for use with in-line density meters.
