The purpose of this standard is to offer technical guidance for the inspection and routine testing of electrical and pneumatic analog chart recorders. This includes tests such as acceptance tests or checks conducted after repairs. For a comprehensive evaluation, or for recorders operating under demanding conditions (e.g., high temperatures), IEC 60873-1 should be referenced. Whenever feasible, tests should align with the procedures outlined in IEC 61298. The person performing the tests should have access to and be familiar with the standard.
Acceptable performance criteria should be established through mutual agreement between the manufacturer and the user, and the test report should clearly indicate which tests were performed. The requirements of this standard apply once they have been agreed upon by both the manufacturer and the user.
