This section of IEC 61 290 applies to optical fiber amplifiers (OFAs) using active fibers, which currently contain rare-earth dopants. The purpose of this part is to establish uniform requirements for accurate and reliable measurements of the following OFA parameters, as defined in IEC 61 291-1:
a) input reflectance;
b) output reflectance.
