ISO 11596:2021 specifies a method for sampling precious metals and their alloys to determine the concentration of precious metals and assess their homogeneity. It is applicable to raw materials, semi-finished products, and finished products and is intended solely for the sampling of entirely metallic materials.

Note 2: For assaying techniques other than those listed, other sampling procedures may be required.
Note 3: For production control or lot inspection purposes, the international standards indicated in the bibliography or corresponding guidelines can be applied in addition.
